PADABHYANGA>>>> Indian foot massage


It includes massage of the feet. Feet are very important part in our body, as many nerves from many organs terminate in the feet. So massage helps to strengthen these nerves and restores health to many parts of the body.
The marma vital points are massaged which gives balance to your dosha.
Foot massage is called "Padabhyanga", and it has a very special place within the Ayurvedic tradition.
From 5000yrs it considering as the important part of dincharyadaily routine regimeas the preventative medicine.mention in all granth like charak, susrut & vaghbat

There is a wonderful ancient Indian saying:
"Disease does not go near one who massages his feet before sleeping, just as snakes do not approach eagles."

India is a country of great diversity.There are various methods of Padabhyanga. However, the movement of energy is uniformly accepted as a focus for the foot massage.

According to once prakriti and vikriti
1)Vata Pacifying Abhyanga-Sesame Oil is considered to be the “king of oils;” it is the preferred choice of oil for vata because it is inherently warming.if vata is high in your Vikriti.
2)Pitta Pacifying Abhyanga-Bhringaraj Oil or Brahmi Oil to the scalp and soles of feet at bedtime may reduce pitta and encourage sound sleep. If you don’t have herbal oils, use Sunflower Oil or Coconut Oil for your abhyanga.
3)Kapha Pacifying Abhyanga-Abhyanga with warm oil is best for kapha. While Sesame Oil, Almond Oil, olive oil and corn oil are all warming,best massage for kapha is udvartana, massaging the body with soft, fragrant powders, like Organic Calamus Powder.

I have recently completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh and was advised by my anatomy teacher and Ayurvedic doctor to massage my scalp and feet with brahmi/sesame oil before sleep to combat my insomnia and balance my vata. I have not slept so beautifully for a very long time. I don't always massage my scalp due to the oil but always do my feet before bed. Namasate
